Professional specimen collection for employees in safety-sensitive transportation roles subject to U.S. Department of Transportation testing rules.

Commercial driver speaking with a mobile testing professional

What it is

A regulated urine specimen collection completed with required identification, federal custody-and-control documentation, secure handling, and shipment to the employer’s designated laboratory.

Who it’s for

  • Commercial drivers and other safety-sensitive workers
  • Employers and designated employer representatives
  • Consortium and third-party administrators

How it works

  1. The employer, DER, or authorized requester provides the testing reason and required program information.
  2. The donor presents valid photo identification.
  3. The collector follows the regulated collection and documentation process.
  4. The specimen goes to the designated laboratory; the Medical Review Officer manages verified results.

What to expect or bring

Bring valid photo identification and any employer-provided paperwork. Employers should provide their designated representative, laboratory, Medical Review Officer, and account details when applicable.
